Fresh Energy’s goal is an energy system that sustains our economies, human health, and the environment. Through advocacy, research, and collaboration, Fresh Energy's staff works to deliver laws to make clean energy more available, fight global warming, and provide less polluting, more efficient transportation options. Through it all, Fresh Energy focuses on using energy more wisely—doing more work with less energy. The staff at Fresh Energy focuses on four main areas: energy efficiency, clean energy, transportation and land use, and global warming solutions.
If the wind blows and sun shines everywhere, then our new electricity system does not have to mimic the old – with centralized coal and gas power plants sending electricity long distance to consumers. Instead, electricity can be generated at many, dispersed renewable energy power plants and close to where it is used.
If renewable energy generation can be dispersed widely, then it should be locally owned whenever possible. With local ownership, the neighbors of energy generation are also the economic beneficiaries, creating a constituency for rapidly expanding renewable power and transforming energy consumers into energy producers.
This website expands on this foundation of Energy Self-Reliant States, published in late 2009.and is written by report co-author John Farrell, a senior researcher on the New Rules Project at the Institute for Local Self-Reliance.
The Minnesota Renewable Energy Society promotes the use of and advocates for renewable energies in Minnesota through education and through the demonstration of practical applications. MRES is involved in education, awareness, and advocacy efforts for all forms of renewable energy, with a particular emphasis on solar technologies.
Minnesota Interfaith Power & Light believes the active care of creation is integral to spiritual life and social justice. Through leadership and guidance to Minnesota’s faith communities, we respond to climate change by promoting energy conservation, energy efficiency, and renewable energy sources.
We knit many efforts together in a powerful and unified call to action—a call that is global, scientific, and specific.
We stitch together a whole that is truly greater than the sum of its parts.
Building on Will Steger’s experience as a polar explorer and an eyewitness to climate change, the Will Steger Foundation inspires people to embrace the transition to a low-carbon economy through climate literacy, citizen engagement and international cooperation.
The National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) is the nation's primary laboratory for renewable energy and energy efficiency research and development (R&D).
NREL's mission and strategy are focused on advancing the U.S. Department of Energy's and our nation's energy goals. The laboratory's scientists and researchers support critical market objectives to accelerate research from scientific innovations to market-viable alternative energy solutions. . . The laboratory thereby directly contributes to our nation's goal for finding new renewable ways to power our homes, businesses, and cars.
